Keep Calyraen OS up to date

Calyraen OS gets updates that fix bugs, close security gaps, and improve how your Stratus, Vantage, Atlas, or Forge runs. This article explains how those updates arrive, how to check for them yourself, and how to finish one once it downloads.

Why updates matter

Updates do two main jobs. They patch security problems so your device stays protected, and they fix bugs and add improvements based on what people report. Running the latest version is the simplest way to keep your machine stable and safe.

How automatic updates work

Calyraen OS checks for updates on its own in the background. When one is ready, it downloads quietly and waits for a good moment to install. Most updates apply without interrupting what you are doing, and you will see a notice when a restart is needed to finish.

Automatic updates are on by default. You can review the settings under Settings > System > Updates, where you can also see the version you are running now.

Checking for updates manually

You do not have to wait for the background check. To look right away:

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Go to System > Updates.
  3. Select Check for updates.

If an update is available, it will start downloading. If your device is already current, you will see a note saying so.

Restarting to finish

Some updates, especially security and system ones, need a restart before they take effect. When you see the restart prompt:

  • Save any open work first.
  • Choose Restart now, or pick a later time if you are busy.

After the restart, the update is fully applied. You can confirm the new version under System > Updates.

Staying on a supported version

Keeping automatic updates on is the easiest way to stay on a version that still gets security fixes. If you turned them off, we suggest turning them back on so you do not fall behind. You can check your current version any time on the same Updates screen.

If you still need help

If an update will not download or install, or your device does not restart cleanly, open a ticket at /support. It helps to include your product line (Stratus, Vantage, Atlas, or Forge), the version shown under System > Updates, and your device serial number.
