Software Licence Agreement

A plain summary of what a Calyraen software licence is, where the full terms live, and how to get help.

Software Licence Agreement

Draft for legal review.

This page explains, in plain terms, what a software licence is and how it applies to Calyraen software. It is a summary. It is not the agreement itself.

What a software licence is

When you use Calyraen OS or any Calyraen software, you are using it under a licence. A licence is the set of terms that says how you may use the software, what you can and cannot do with it, and what each side is responsible for. You own your hardware and your own files. The software itself stays the property of Calyraen (or of the people who made the parts we build on), and the licence is your permission to run it.

Most software works this way. The licence is what turns "here is a copy" into "here is how you are allowed to use this copy."

Where the actual terms live

The full agreement is the document that governs your use. It is the part that matters legally, and it is the part we are not going to guess at on a summary page.

You will find the current terms in one of these places:

  • Provided with the software, shown when you install or first set it up.
  • Confirmed by Calyraen in writing for your account or your order.

If the agreement provided with the software differs from anything written here, the agreement provided with the software is the one that counts.

Calyraen OS and Calyraen hardware

Calyraen designs its own computers, including the Forge servers and the Atlas, Vantage and Stratus machines, and builds Calyraen OS to run on them. Hardware and software can carry different terms. Buying a machine and licensing the software on it are separate things, and each may have its own agreement.

We are early. Products are shown out of stock while we build. As we ship, the terms that apply to a given product will be the ones provided with that product or confirmed to you directly.

If you have questions

If you are not sure which terms apply to you, or you want a copy of an agreement, ask us. We would rather answer than have you guess.
