Reset or reinstall Calyraen OS

2 min read

This guide explains how to reset or reinstall Calyraen OS on your Stratus, Vantage, Atlas, or Forge machine, and how to decide which one you actually need.

Reset or reinstall: which one fits your problem

  • A reset keeps Calyraen OS installed and lets you choose to keep or remove your personal files. It's a good fix for a slow machine, software that won't behave, or getting a device ready to hand off to someone else.
  • A reinstall replaces the whole operating system from scratch. Use it when a reset won't finish, the machine won't boot, or support has told you to do a clean install.

Start with a reset. It's faster and lower risk. Move to a full reinstall only if the reset fails or support asks you to.

Back up your files first

A reset can remove your files, and a reinstall always does. Before you start:

  • Copy documents, photos, and anything else you care about to an external drive or your own cloud storage.
  • Write down the apps you'll need again, along with any license keys.
  • Make sure you know your Calyraen sign-in details for /login.

Open recovery and run the reset

The exact screens depend on your device and Calyraen OS version, so follow the on-screen prompts rather than a fixed sequence.

  1. Save your work and close open apps.
  2. Open the recovery environment from system settings, or by restarting into recovery.
  3. Choose the reset (or reinstall) option and pick whether to keep or remove your files.
  4. Confirm, then leave the machine plugged in and powered on until it finishes.

The device may restart several times. That's normal.

What to expect afterward

Once it's done:

  • Sign in again with your Calyraen account.
  • Reinstall the apps you use and re-enter any license keys.
  • Restore your files from the backup you made.
  • Install available system updates before you get back to work.

If the machine still misbehaves after a clean reinstall, that can point to a hardware problem. Have your order number and serial number ready so support can look into it. You'll find order details when you sign in at /account.

If you still need help

Open a ticket at /support with your device model, serial number, and a short note on what happened. If it looks like a hardware fault, add photos and your order number so the team has what they need.

Thanks for the feedback.
