An update should be something you barely notice. Here is how ours work.
When a release is ready we roll it out in stages rather than to everyone at once. If something needs a second look, it reaches a small group first and we can hold the rest. Your machine downloads the update quietly in the background and waits. Nothing restarts until you say so.
You stay in control of the timing. You can check for an update whenever you like, install it on your own schedule, or set a quiet window overnight. If an update ever causes trouble, you can roll back to the previous version.
