Calyraen Foundation

Infrastructure and access, where it is needed.

The Foundation is our nonprofit work. We put resources, access and opportunity in the hands of people and communities who will do something real with them.

Why we run it

A foundation, not a pitch.

Calyraen builds computers and software for a living. The Foundation is the part that gives some of that back. We look for places where a bit of infrastructure or access changes what a community can do, and then we help make it happen. When a program stops earning its place, we say so and move the effort somewhere it counts.

How we work

Three things we put in reach.

Everything the Foundation does comes back to the same three.

Resources

The tools to start

Equipment, software and the know-how to run it, given to the people who will use it rather than shelve it.

Access

A door held open

We take away the cost or the barrier standing between a community and something it should already be able to reach.

Opportunity

A first step worth taking

We back efforts where one bit of help opens up the next thing, and then the one after that.

The program

What we run today.

One program is live right now. We would rather do a single thing well than launch ten and staff none of them.

Gym4Free

Fitness that costs nothing.

Gym4Free opens the gym to people who could not otherwise afford one. The Foundation supports it, so the price at the door is zero.

“Help that only works while we are watching is not help. We build things that keep standing after we step back.”

Getting involved

Bring us something real.

Partner with the Foundation

Have reach or resources we do not? Let us put them together.

If your organisation already works with a community and needs the missing piece, whether that is equipment, a platform or a way to reach more people, tell us where the gap is. We would rather add to work that is already happening than start from scratch beside it. The fastest way in is to write to us and say plainly what you are trying to do.

Suggest a program

You see a need we have not.

The Foundation runs on ideas from people closer to the ground than we are. If you know a place where a little infrastructure or access would change things, we want to hear it, even when the idea is still rough. We read every note. Concrete beats polished.

How programs get chosen

Plainly, and by whether they last.

We back an idea when we can see how it keeps working once we are no longer standing next to it. If a program depends on us being in the room forever, it is charity with a countdown, and we would rather fund something that outlives our attention. When a program stops doing that, we wind it down honestly and move the effort to where it helps.

Tell us what you are building.

Two sentences is plenty. A person reads every note and writes back. No form with twenty fields, no queue music.

Start the conversation

We only use what you type here to write back with something useful.
